About Us
Kentuckiana Friends of V
Kentuckiana Friends of V is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to raising local and national funds for cancer research while supporting cancer related initiatives, including prevention, education, and screening.
Our Growth
Since 2021, we've grown revenue nearly 5x, and in 2025 alone we directed **$45,000** in grants to Norton Children's Hospital Genetic Counseling Program and the UK Markey Cancer Foundation — two of the region's leading cancer-care institutions. That's on top of years of steady community support that's grown our base of contributors year over year. Also in 2025, we forged a new relationship with University of Louisville Brown Cancer Center with a commitment to support their work in pancreatic cancer research as well as a mobile lung cancer screening unit.
We run lean. Our board is entirely volunteer-led. When you give to KFOV, you're giving to an organization built on community trust — not overhead.
Why Now
We're at an inflection point. New event formats launched over the past two years are building the foundation for sustained, diversified fundraising — not dependence on any single event or gift. As those programs mature, more of every dollar raised goes further toward the cause. Growing our base of committed donors now means we can commit to bigger, more consistent grants to the institutions doing this work.

The state of Kentucky has the highest cancer rate in the United States according to CDC’s Cancer Statistics. While we celebrate Kentucky's #1 status in many areas, the national cancer rate is not one of them. Help us change this!
Past Beneficiaries

Funded and coordinated the largest single site free prostate cancer screening in the USA at the Kentucky State Fair (2,000 screenings).

Established the Angela Valvano Memorial research classroom at Kosair Children’s Hospital.

Donated over $500,000 in the fight against cancer.

Funded research at Kosair Children’s Hospital on why certain cancers spread more quickly in children than adults.

Funded research at Brown Cancer Center on detecting lung cancer through noninvasive, cost effective breathalyzer testing.

Contributed $2500 to the Markey Cancer Center's ACTION program for Appalachian Kentucky high school and undergraduate students enrolled at UK. Provides experience in cancer research, clinical, outreach and educational experiences to enrich their interest in pursuing a cancer-focused career.
